Pevonia’s acne problematic skin line – Ligne Clarifyl – effectively deals with intense skin care problems for adult skin. Each product serves as a dynamic agent controlling bacteria and preventing inflammation while calming and soothing irritated skin. Pevonia products are created with natural and organic ingredients. Ligne Clarifyl offers problematic skin perceptively impacting results. I trialled all the products in the range (Clarifyl Exfoliating Cleanser, Problematic Skin Lotion, Problematic Skin Cream, Purifying Skin Mask, Spot On) because they have been created to work synergistically together for maximum effect.
Clarifyl Exfoliating Cleanser – no mineral oil
This unique cleanser (main image) contains Soapwort, Triclosan, Grapefruit Oil and Citric Acid. It gently emulsifies sebum and impurities promoting intense cleansing for problematic skin. Leaves skin fresh and bacteria-free. For morning and evening use.
Problematic Skin Lotion – no alcohol
This highly antiseptic and soothing toner combines Salicylic Acid, Chamomile and Azulene to perfect a thorough cleansing. Purifying and refreshing, it helps prevent breakouts and bacterial growth. For morning and evening use.
Problematic Skin Cream – UV protection SPF 8
This light-textured, oil-free moisturiser contains Glycolic Acid, Calendula and Panthenol to ensure skin is soothed, hydrated and desensitised. It prevents pore clogging and blackhead formation. Use morning and evening.
Purifying Skin Mask
Containing a high concentration of active ingredients such as: Glycolic Acid, Zinc Oxide, Sulphur, and Camphor, this mask is healing, soothing, purifying and tightening. It works as an antiseptic and serves as a bacteria suppressor. Use once or twice per week.
Powerful ingredients such as: Glycolic and Salicylic Acid, Betaglucan and Aloe encourage rapid healing and keep skin follicles clean, clear and bacteria-free. Apply on specific spots morning and/or evening.
I have combination skin prone to breakouts and was intrigued to see if this range could improve my skin’s condition. I used the range for 3 weeks.
Clarifyl Exfoliating Cleanser
The first thing I noticed about the Exfoliating Cleanser is its fresh scent and soothing green colour. The cleanser should be applied in circular motion onto damp skin then washed off with warm water. With tiny exfoliating beads it felt lovely on damp skin and left my face very clean, fresh, smooth and comfortable. I think that the exfoliating properties in this cleanser would be sufficient for an oily skin type, but combination, like myself, or normal, may need to use a separate exfoliator once a week in addition to this product.
Problematic Skin Lotion
The Problematic Skin Lotion really does add another dimension to the cleansing process and leaves skin feeling extra clean and shine-free. I really noticed an improvement in the oil production levels of my combination skin and think that this toning lotion had a big part to play in that. It feels very refreshing and sanitising on the skin and removes any leftover makeup residue or dirt.
Problematic Skin Cream
The Problematic Skin Cream has not got a particularly pleasant scent smelling quite clinical; this is a result of the anti-bacterial natural ingredients used to prevent breakouts and keep open pores clean and protected. The texture of the cream is good and it leaves a radiant glow on the skin. I did notice an improvement in blackheads with my pores appearing much clearer and less noticeable as well as a reduction in sebum production. However, having a combination skin type, I did find this moisturiser left my skin a little dry and so I probably personally would just use it in the morning and another more hydrating moisturiser at night. With an SPF of 8 it does offer some sun protection as well.
Purifying Skin Mask
The Purifying Skin Mask is to be used once or twice a week after cleansing. As with the moisturiser the scent of this mask is not the most refreshing. It’s grey in colour and has a watery clay-like consistency which is easy to spread but forms only a thin layer on the skin so a second layer is required. I just used this mask on my T Zone as it would be too drying on my cheeks but an oily skin type would have no problem applying this all over their face. The mask should be left on for 10 minutes then removed with warm water and followed by the lotion. After application my skin did appear clearer and softer and felt soothed and rejuvenated. I do think it worked to help heal existing blemishes with its bacterial properties and prevent breakouts.
The Spot Treatment is, I think, an excellent product which should be applied to specific spots/blemishes/problem areas morning and evening after cleansing. I do think this product helped clear up my existing spots quicker and prevented them from spreading.
Overall, after using the Ligne Clarifyl skincare line for just 2 weeks, I did notice an improvement in my problematic skin. I had less shine in my T-Zone. Prior to using this regime I would need to blot my skin by lunchtime, but since using this regime I can go all day without breakthrough shine. I also have had less breakouts since using the skincare line and my pores are much clearer. The only disadvantage I have found is that my skin has been left feeling drier overall which, although a positive thing on my T-Zone has left the skin on my cheeks a little flakier than usual. However, the pros do outweigh the cons for a combination skin-type that suffers with acne, and I think that an oily skin type prone to acne would not have any problems with this line. The cleanser, toner and spot treatment were my favourite products in the range.
Price and Packaging
The packaging is white and aqua and very simple and refreshing. The Spot Treatment has a pump applicator which makes application easier; the cleansing lotion is a spray which is ideal for spraying onto a pad or straight onto your face; whilst the cleanser, mask and moisturiser are in squeezy tubes, again easy to use and get the right amount without wastage.
Clarifyl Exfoliating Cleanser (150ml) – RRP £28.00
Skin Lotion (200ml) – RRP £21.00
Skin Cream (50ml) – RRP £40.00
Purifying Skin Mask (50ml) – RRP £24.00
Spot Treatment (30ml) – RRP £32.50
The products are quite pricey, particularly the moisturiser, which is due to the natural ingredients used and scientific research behind them. With each product a little does go a long way and the regime could last you up to 6 months; the cleansers are particularly large sizes.

An excellent skincare range for oily to combination skin suffering from acne or prone to breakouts, blackheads and spots. I would highly recommend this regime for those wanting to reduce their sebum production and looking for a long-term acne solution.
