No7 have bought out a volumising and curling mascara, No7 Extravagant Lashes, and as we love No7 mascaras we couldn’t wait to try it.
The first thing you notice about the mascara is that it has a distinctive, square shaped rubber wand. The wand looks promising but it is actually quite tricky to get a grip on the lashes to coat them with. It is also very big which means mascara ends up going where you don’t want it! For best effects the mascara has to be applied in a certain way and the wand does take some getting used to. The best way to apply it is to turn the wand as you coat your lashes from root to tip.
Despite its interesting wand, the mascara’s formula does not separate lashes well, which stick and clog together. The curling effect of the mascara seems to encourage lashes to curl towards each other rather than curl up and out. It seems that lashes are volumised because they stick together. The mascara’s smell is a little rubbery which is also off-putting.
It is the consistency of the mascara which lets it down as the colour is good and the wand gets easier to use with practice.
Price & Packaging
This product retails at £12.00 which is good value.
The packaging is attractive and portable in pink and black.
Unfortunately it hasn’t lived up to its promises for the JMA team. It may work for some, especially if you like to have lashes which do clump together for volume effect, but it didn’t work for us.
