New Year Skin Detox Products

The festivities may be over but if late nights, drinking and partying has taken its toll on your skin and left it feeling like it needs a detox, here are some of the products sure to give your skin the fix it needs.

Start by cleansing with a deep clean cleanser to rid your pores of any impurities, oil and debris. The Body Shop’s Seaweed Cleansing Facial Wash (£7) clears open pores by washing away dirt and excess oil. Skin is left feeling ultra-clean, purified and shine-free.

Next use and exfoliator to remove any dull flaky skin. Origins Modern Friction Scrub (£29) is a superb exfoliator containing Rice Starch which works to remove uneven patches of skin, leaving it smoother, brighter and more even-toned. Vitamin C helps to reduce skin-ageing free radicals and Aloe Vera calms and softens the skin.

If you prefer pampering products, why not use a detox mask instead or in addition to a cleanser and exfoliator? We love Sanctuary’s 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask (£10.20). Its self-heating technology opens up pores while its key ingredients charcoal and kaolin clay draw out impurities. This mask also cleanses the skin leaving it rebalanced and soft – the essential oil myrrh also keeps it calm. If your eyes need a boost too, cover them with some refreshing cucumber slices while you are waiting for the mask to develop. Cucumber is antioxidant which will leave your eye area feeling fresh, hydrated and looking brighter.

Apply a repair serum such as Clinique’s Repairwear Laser Focus (£35) which will help to repair the effects of  environmental damage on the skin and keep it protected from further stresses.

A rich moisturiser will infuse dry and dull skin with the hydration it needs. John Master’s Mandarin Moisture Magnet (£48 from is a deliciously rich cream which will leave your skin feeling rejuvenated and looking luminous. Glycoproteins stimulate skin’s cell renewal and key ingredients such as shea butter, aspen bark, Japanese Satsuma and mandarin extract restore skin to its maximum moisture content to prevent dehydration.

Finally don’t forget your eyes; for an instant lift try Bremenn’s Upper Eyelid Lifter; while to repair and protect against environmental stresses on the delicate eye area in the long term, Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair eye cream (£35) works to dramatically reduce the look of the key signs of ageing in the fragile eye area including fine lines, dark circles and puffiness. Alternatively, treat yourself to an eye mask such as Estee Lauder’s Stress Relieving Eye Mask (£23).

So after using these super detoxing, stress relieving and wrinkle combating products, no-one will ever know that you have had too many late nights partying!
