Nail polish is definitely a girl’s best friend. We all can’t refuse a good nail colour, whether it’s a classic nude of neon pink. However, whilst we love the wonders it does, we are all aware of the chemicals it contains. Now you may be thinking that these are required to produce decent polish, or that if an ethical polish did exist, you wouldn’t be able to choose from a variety of fabulous colours?
Well, this is where nailgirls comes in. Created to be as natural as possible (their polish is free from toluene, formaldehyde, DBP (phthalates) and camphor), this brand knows how to have fun, the friendly way. After being inspired by the buzzing, fun nail salons in New York, co-founder’s Lynda Louise and Jo Burrell felt like London nail bars were missing the same vibe. With the idea to launch toxic free polish, they decided to open a nail spa in Islington, which was welcomed by Londoners with open arms. Made to be a social place, nailgirls spa offers a variety of treatments, with some including complimentary bubbly on a comfy sofa whilst your nails dry.
The key to this successful salon is of course the nailgirls brand. After launching two years ago, it has over 80 colours available, with the girls bringing out a new collection of four colours every season. From soft beige right the way up to cosmic blue, there is a colour for everyone. Inspired by current trends, nailgirls always aim to create looks fresh off the catwalk. After also completing 19 very successful shows at London Fashion Week (SS11 & AW11) they have provided manicures for Ashish, Julian J Smith, Felder Felder, Holly Fulton, Kinder Aggugini and many more.
With nailgirls constantly growing, it was great news to hear that they have recently launched a new nail spa at Davinia Taylors plush salon, Taylor Made. Now also located in Central London (Marlyebone), more people can enjoy the wonders of a nailgirls manipedi. After being lucky enough to attend the launch, I opted to dabble in some nail art myself, by having the pocohontas look recreated from Ashish SS11.
Along with this, the new summer collection was on show and the team have nailed it with punchy orange and pink neons, a blinding purple and a neutral khaki, which contrasts against the bright shades perfectly. Launching in May, these colours are a must have to keep bang on trend.
