On first look it is a little hard to tell whether this product is a concealer or foundation. But don’t let that put you off since it is both. The yellow cream is a concealer which can be used to neutralise red skin, blemishes, patchy skin, and dark circles. The beige cream is the foundation which should be applied with a sponge or foundation brush. Some people also like to mix the yellow cream with the beige cream to get a more luminous colour. It retails at a very reasonable £15.99. For those who do not need the yellow concealer section, Helen E do a double cream palette, which is just the foundation, for the same price.
Who’s it for
Although some women enjoy taking the time to find a foundation colour which suits them, many are too busy and get sick of the trial and error approach needed to do so. Such women are in luck with the Helen E Cream and Concealer Duo which innovatively comes in just one colour and magically looks great on any skin tone. It can be worn all year round, even when you have a tan since it really does suit all white skins from fair to olive, as well as light asian skins. Helen E also do a version for dark asian, mixed race and black skins called Nubian Beauty, which again adapts to your skin tone but comes in light, medium and dark shades.
The foundation felt soft on the skin and was easy to apply. It gave a radiant, natural finish and lovely glow. Although we used a foundation brush to apply the cream, one criticism would be that it does not come with an applicator such as a sponge. This can be irritating if you have forgotten to buy some makeup wedges or don’t have the budget for a foundation brush. Helen E do sell foundation brushes for £17.99 which is cheaper than many luxury brands’, and makeup application sponges at £2.99 for 10.
We would recommend this makeup for all ages looking for a natural, light to medium coverage foundation, with normal, combination or dry skin. Combination skins may still need a powder in the T-zone. The coverage can be built up from light to medium.
We would not recommend this product for those needing a full coverage makeup, if you have problem skin such as acne, or oily skin types due to the luminosity of the cream. Helen E do make a separate skin smoother for oily skin types called Photo Finish.
