Becoming cult classics in the makeup world are Christian Dior’s Diorshow mascaras — the show girl’s favourite backstage mascaras. Diorshow Blackout is meant to add volume and intense Black Kohl to the lashes, we put it to the test…
Diorshow Black Out not only volumises lashes, but lifts and lengthens for a wide-eyed glamourous look. As the name suggests “Black Kohl” it gives a smouldering, dramatic colour to the lashes and is ideal for an evening or smoky eyed look. This is a deeply rich and creamy, high pigmented black mascara with a charcoal-like finish.
The large wand takes some getting used to and some people may find it too awkward to use. The mascara does smudge a little too, but doesn’t clump. This means it is not as long-wearing as you may need. In certain conditions, such as warm weather, we recommend using the waterproof version.
The tube is black with a silver trim and writing.
Although this version of Diorshow only comes in black, the original Diorshow mascara has a wider range of colours, in Black, Azure Blue (a vibrant, electric blue) and Chestnut.
The product retails at £19.50.
If you can get the hang of the brush, Diorshow Black Out is a brilliant mascara which gives intensely black colour to the lashes. The deep colour also helps give the illusion of great thickness to the lashes. But oily skin types in particular may find that it smudges after a few hours.
