Spring Makeup Trends 2011
As we enter the fresh and brighter days of spring it's not only time to change our clothes but makeup too. Here we reveal some of the looks and products you shouldn't miss out on this spring.
Pretty Pastels

Pastel colours are going to be big this season with many makeup companies bringing out a pastel collection. Pastel colours look beautiful on the eyes and some of the colours set to be popular include mint, lavender, yellow, peach and coral. The trendy way to wear pastel colour eyeshadows is to pick one shade for your eyelids and wear it with black eyeliner, both liquid on top and crayon below. Most collections have matching nail colours to complement the eyeshadows. Rose, beige and other soft colour lipsticks complete a pastel look.

We particularly love Lancome's Ultra Lavande limited edition spring collection in which colour creator Aaron de Mey has taken inspiration from both seventies disco and flower power. The Ombre Magnetique sparkly cream-powder eyeshadows (£23.50) come in lavender, silver and gold with matching nail colours - Mini Le Vernis. The Touch Absolu lip colours (£23.50) are three contrasting shades of rose which come in dazzling disco ball casing; while a beautifully carved butterfly and rose mineral blusher La Rose Butterfly - Ballerina Nude (£32.50) completes the look combing both rose and lavender hues to make it this season's must have blush.

Clarins Neo Pastel limited edition spring collection is a fresh and romantic take on the pastel trend and the Neo Pastels Eye Colour & Liner Palette (£30 – available from February) is a sleek gold palette containing black powder eyeliner and 6 pastel eyeshadows from golden brown to lilac.
Bold Brights
Bright, bold and neon colours such as hot pink, violet, yellow and orange – set to be the new red – are reoccurring colours seen on fashion models for spring 2011. We love Estee Lauder's Pure Colour Lipstick in Wild Fire – a deep, fiery orange shade (£17.50) from their Wild Violet limited edition spring range (available from February). The collection has a mix of muted neutral and bright colours with violet rather than lavender hues. A sophisticated and stunning collection our favourite products include the Untamed Violet, Pure Colour Eyeshadow (£15.50) and matching Double Wear Stay In Place Eye Pencil (£15.50).
Bright colours can be warn on both eyes and lips; however, if you are going to wear a bright colour eyeshadow then team it with nude lips for the best effect and, if you choose a bright lipstick, natural eyes with give it a fuller impact.
M.A.C's Peackocky limited edition spring collection is rich with royal colours such as peacock blue, forest green, purple, copper and navy. The Peacocky (blue) Kissable Lipcolour (£16) is an unusual statement colour especially when teamed with purple eyeshadow such as the Mega Metal Shadow in Noir Plum (£15.50) also from the Peacocky range.
Lashes and Liners
Teaming up with the pastel and bright eyeshadows is liquid black eyeliner applied thickly to the lash line. Lashes should be fuller than ever with extreme volume and some makeup artists are even applying liquid liner below the lower lashes in dashes to create the illusion of thicker lashes. Go for a full impact mascara such as Lancome Hypnose and a versatile liquid eyeliner which is easy to apply such as M.A.C's Penultimate Eye Liner.

Timeless Greys
Smoky eyes are still in with some beauty houses launching a grey and pink colour collection for spring. Rich and silky in texture Christian Dior's Gris Montaigne collection oozes elegance with its timeless and modern colour range from smoky to pearly grey, baby to boudoir pink. We particularly love the Gris Gris 5 Colour Palette (£40) for a molten metallic look.
Nudes and Naturals
Nude lipsticks are still hot this season in peach, rose, coral, beige, brown or plum with some being particularly bright and others quite deep. We love Clarins' Limited Edition Rouge Hydra Nude lipsticks (£16.50) from their Neo Pastels spring collection (available February).
An all over natural look provides a fresh spring look with subtle beiges and brown eyeshadows on the eyes with natural mascara and nude lips.
Foundation should be fresh and youthful this season to compliment the playful bright and pastel colour story. We love Chanel's Teint Innocence foundation which gives skin a luminous, fresh and angelic look.
Pearly Nails

Grey, pink, silver, pearly white and peach are the colours your nail's should be painted in this season. The winter makeup trend of precious jewel tones has a fresh twist this spring with Chanel's colour inspiration coming from pearls. We love the nail colours from their limited edition spring collection Les Perles de Chanel in Pearl Drop, Peche Nacree and Black Pearl (£16.50).
Statement Brows
As in 2010, statement eyebrows are all the rage and no look is complete without filled in and enhanced eyebrows. See our article on eyebrow shaping tips for further information.
